Steven Popkes was reading SF at a very early age—along with the James Jones’ From Here to Eternity and the complete plays of Eugene O’Neil. The Popkes home had a very liberal attitude toward books: if you could reach it on the shelf, you could read it.
Fast forward to college and graduate school for degrees in Zoology and Neurophysiology. Then, for reasons, moving into software engineering and aerospace.
Along the way, the obsession with writing began and he attended Clarion SF & F Writers’ Workshop.
The two paths, aerospace and writing, were natural to him. His father was a mechanical engineer with the soul of a poet and his mother was a writer with the soul of an engineer.
At this point, Steven has published about fifty short stories and several novels. All of these are (or will be) available via this website, www.stevenpopkes.com.
